North American Events Recruiting Campaign


The Client
SolidWorks Corporation develops and markets 3D mechanical design solutions, selling its products through a worldwide network of authorized value-added resellers and system integrators.

The Challenge
SolidWorks planned seminars and "test drive" events to generate leads and brand awareness for their resellers in towns and cities throughout North America, all to take place in a one-month time frame. They needed quick turnaround of a mailing campaign to ensure attendance by qualified prospects.

The Arrow Direct Solution
Arrow Direct created the design and copy for a format suited to the target audience of design engineers and their managers, namely colorful self-mailers with informative, non-hype copy. Our list research identified 11 lists that we recommended to reach prospects qualified by title and business type within convenient driving distance of the 127 locations where events were planned. The lists included phone numbers to enable resellers to support the mailings with phone calls. Because list research and print production had to run in parallel, time did not allow for exact print quantities per location to be identified before mailer printing started; so to avoid the risks of significant waste or shortages, we printed self-mailer shells with space for the locations, dates, and times to be subsequently imprinted per event location as needed. We also made, and provided the resellers with, templates, along with bulk supplies of the mailers, enabling them to imprint their own information using their regular office laser printers, and to mail to their own in-house lists.

The Outcome
The significant logistics of this program were executed without hitches. The combination of lists, copy, and design pulled well resulting in well-attended events. With this campaign SolidWorks was able to show strong support for their resellers and they were very pleased with Arrow's performance and the mailing results.
